Harlem Globetrotters to begin Polish tour featuring Paweł Kidoń

The Harlem Globetrotters are preparing for a tour in Poland, featuring Paweł ‘Dazzle’ Kidoń, the only Polish player in the team's 100-year history. Kidoń has indicated he is preparing special performances for the upcoming tour.

Founded in Chicago in 1926 by Abe Saperstein, the team became a symbol of excellence and African American pride during the era of racial segregation. The Globetrotters are credited with pioneering the ‘sports show’ genre, using improvisation and ball-handling skills to entertain audiences. Historically, the team challenged racial barriers by defeating the NBA champion Minneapolis Lakers in 1948 and 1949 at a time when Black players were excluded from the NBA.

Recognized as ‘Ambassadors of Goodwill’ by the U.S. Department of State, the team has performed for global leaders and played in significant historical contexts, such as Wilt Chamberlain’s participation in matches in Moscow during the Cold War.
