Harley Reid should captain West Coast, says Ken Hinkley
Ken Hinkley has recommended that West Coast Eagles player Harley Reid be appointed captain starting next season. Hinkley suggests that the responsibility of leadership could accelerate the 21-year-old midfielder's maturity and help curb recent disciplinary issues.
Reid, a former number one draft pick, is currently serving a two-match suspension following a sling tackle on Hawthorn’s Jai Newcombe. Hinkley noted that while Reid has shown flashes of brilliance, he still needs to refine his discipline. He compared Reid’s potential development to that of GWS captain Toby Greene, noting how leadership roles can transform high-energy players into more composed leaders.
