Harmanpreet Kaur Captains India in 2026 Women's Asia Cup Squad Announcement
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15‑member squad for the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur has been retained as captain, with Smriti Mandhana named vice‑captain. The squad includes top‑order batters Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues, all‑rounders Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav, pace bowler Renuka Thakur and spinner Sree Charani, among others. Reserve players feature Pratika Rawal, Uma Chetry, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare and Minnu Mani.
The tournament will be played in T20I format with eight Asian teams and is scheduled for late August to mid‑September 2026. India, a seven‑time champion, lost the 2024 final to Sri Lanka and will look to reclaim the title.
The announcement follows questions about Kaur’s captaincy after India missed the semi‑finals of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, but the selectors have kept the senior batter in charge.
