Harmeet Dhillon seeks DOJ volunteers for election monitoring

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, head of the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division, has called for attorneys and professional staff to volunteer as election monitors for the upcoming November elections.

Internal emails sent to Civil Rights Division employees request staff to either monitor an unspecified number of polling places across the country on November 3 or work at a call center in Washington. The initiative appears to be part of a broader plan to deploy approximately 1,000 monitors.

Dhillon stated that the monitors will be tasked with observing compliance with voting accessibility rules and other civil rights issues, as well as monitoring for potential election fraud. While the Justice Department frequently deploys federal monitors during major elections, this recruitment effort aims to reach the 1,000-person target.
