Harmonia Enlouquece releases fifth album celebrating 25 years
The Centro Psiquiátrico do Rio de Janeiro (CPRJ) is releasing 'O Quinto dos Infernos', the fifth album by the musical group Harmonia Enlouquece. Formed 25 years ago on World Health Day in 2001, the group consists of psychiatric patients and healthcare professionals, serving as a national reference for using music as a mental health care tool within Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS).
Most of the group's 65 recorded songs are composed by Hamilton de Jesus Assunção, a patient at the CPRJ since 1998. The new album features 13 tracks, including 11 new compositions by Assunção. The group, which recently received the Prêmio Asas (Aldir Blanc-RJ), currently includes 13 members, nine of whom are undergoing treatment.
The launch event is scheduled to take place at the Museu da História e da Cultura Afro-Brasileira (MuhCab) in Rio de Janeiro, featuring an exhibition, a documentary screening, and a panel discussion on music, inclusion, and mental health.
