HarmonyOS becomes world's third-largest mobile operating system

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reported that the HarmonyOS mobile operating system has become the third largest in the world. The open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem has reached a cumulative total of over 1.35 billion devices.

Huawei executive Yu Chengdong recently announced that HarmonyOS 6 terminal device numbers have exceeded 80 million units. This follows the release of HarmonyOS 6 in October 2025, which debuted on the Huawei Mate 80 series. The ecosystem continues to expand rapidly, with previous estimates suggesting daily user growth in the hundreds of thousands.
