Harokopio University to receive 4.5 million euros for obesity research center

The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has approved funding of up to 4.5 million euros for the construction of a new building at Harokopio University. This facility will house a Research Center dedicated to childhood and adolescent obesity.

Part of the Ministry’s 2026–2030 Sectoral Development Program, the project aims to establish a permanent, multidisciplinary research infrastructure. The center will focus on weight management, clinical prevention, and addressing the complications of obesity through scientific research, education, and clinical practice. The initiative is intended to support national public health efforts and provide advanced equipment and facilities for research teams and new scientists.
