Harold Burbano Named ADN Candidate for Quito Mayor in 2026 Election

Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN) officially registered its candidates for the 2026 Ecuadorian sectional elections on 2 August. Former minister Harold Burbano, who served in the government of President Daniel Noboa as minister of Human Development and minister of Labour, was entered as ADN’s candidate for the mayoralty of Quito. The party also swapped its original slate, moving Giovanna Ubidia – former director of the Social Security for Rural Workers – to run for the prefecture of Pichincha after a request from party bases.

Burbano’s campaign will focus on security, mobility, employment generation and improving municipal services. Ubidia said she will continue work with rural parish councils and maintain a presence in the province’s countryside. The candidacy changes were announced during a march to the National Electoral Council headquarters in Quito.
