Haro's New 5‑Star Hotel Boosts Rioja Wine Tourism
The Hotel Palacio de los Ángeles opened in March in Haro, the capital of Rioja's wine region. Housed in an 18th‑century baroque palace, the 38‑room boutique hotel – including ten suites – cost more than €4 million to restore, offers a wellness centre, curated local products, and has joined The Leading Hotels of the World, making it the area’s first five‑star accommodation.
Rioja’s wine tourism is expanding beyond traditional cellars. Modern architecturally striking bodegas such as Ysios, Marqués de Riscal, Baigorri and Juan Alcorta combine production, storage and social spaces, drawing visitors with avant‑garde design. The sector already attracted over 105,000 tourists in 2024, and the new luxury lodging is expected to deepen the region’s appeal to high‑end travelers seeking cultural and culinary experiences.
