Harpswell, Maine Hosts Annual Lobster Boat Races, Donates $30,000 to Charity

The Harpswell Lobster Boat Races took place on July 26 on Maine's coast, marking more than three decades of the community's distinctive boating tradition. The event features 33 classes of lobster boats, ranging from non‑working vessels to the fastest rigs, and includes food vendors, raffle prizes and waterfront viewing areas.

Proceeds after covering expenses are contributed to the Harpswell Santa Fund, which assists local families in need. In 2025 the race generated a record‑breaking $30,000 for the fund, underscoring the race’s role as both a celebration of the region’s lobster heritage and a charitable community effort.
