Harri Stojka releases new garage rock album ‘Anarchy’
Musician Harri Stojka has released a new album titled ‘Anarchy’, marking a shift toward garage rock and heavy rock sounds. Known for his diverse musical background ranging from gypsy jazz to blues and Hendrix tributes, the 69-year-old guitarist presented the new work at the Szene Wien.
The album incorporates social and political themes. Tracks include ‘People’, an anti-war song; ‘Hot Out There’, which addresses climate change; and ‘The Holy High Society’, a critique of the ‘Seitenblicke’ scene.
Stojka, who comes from a Lovara-Roma family, also includes songs with significant lyrical depth. ‘Im Herz sind alle gleich’ features lyrics by writer Michael Köhlmeier regarding the historical situation of the Roma and Sinti people, while ‘Die Hände der Männer’, written by Stojka’s sister Sissi, offers a critique of traditional gender roles within Roma and Sinti society.
