Harriet Cowan criticizes BBC’s Countryfile regarding farming realities

Harriet Cowan, a star of the Amazon series ‘Clarkson’s Farm’, has criticized the long-running BBC programme ‘Countryfile’, stating that the former has done more for British farming in five years than the latter.

Cowan argued that while ‘Countryfile’ focuses on nature, such as species of trees and birds, ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ highlights the actual hardships and harsh realities faced by farmers. She specifically noted a disconnect regarding rewilding, explaining that farmers often view leaving productive land to become overgrown with weeds and brambles as wasting land that could otherwise be used for food production.

Cowan clarified that her comments were not directed at the ‘Countryfile’ presenters, whom she described as “lovely,” but rather at the difference in how the two shows represent the agricultural industry.
