Harris Teeter announces $253 million investment in Charlotte area

Harris Teeter, a subsidiary of The Kroger Co., has announced a $253 million investment plan to be implemented over the next three years in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The capital will be used to modernize and renovate existing stores and to open three new locations.

The expansion and renovation efforts will span several communities, including Fort Mill, Rock Hill, and Lake Wylie in South Carolina, as well as Matthews, Waxhaw, Concord, Huntersville, and Kannapolis in North Carolina.

Planned improvements include expanded fresh, bakery, and prepared-food departments, updated store layouts, new fixtures, and enhanced signage. The company also intends to improve the speed and convenience of its pickup and delivery services. Renovations will be completed in phases, with some stores expected to host grand reopening celebrations starting this fall.
