Harrison Barnes to fund fourth basketball court in Saltillo
NBA player Harrison Barnes has committed to rehabilitating a fourth basketball court in Saltillo, Mexico, as part of the city’s 450th-anniversary celebrations in 2027. The announcement was made by Mayor Javier Díaz González following a meeting in Austin, Texas.
Through the ‘Activa tu Parque’ program, Barnes has already contributed to the rehabilitation of three youth basketball courts. This includes the Plaza Mirasierra Spurs, which was inaugurated in 2025 following a $60,000 contribution from the athlete. The new project will focus on a court located in the city's fourth district.
Mayor Díaz noted that Saltillo is the first city outside of the United States to receive this type of support from the professional athlete. Barnes expressed his appreciation for the city, stating that Saltillo has become a special place for him and his family and noting the sense of security he experiences while visiting various sectors of the city.
