Harrobi Dantza Bertikala's Vertical Dance Show Lights Up Gijón's Clock Tower

The Basque dance collective Harrobi Dantza Bertikala performed "Geure(R)a", a vertical dance piece, on the façade of the Torre del Reloj in Gijón. The show, part of the Festival Arcu Atlánticu, combined dance, music, poetry and video‑mapping, with performers suspended from harnesses several metres above the ground. Technical preparations ensured the safety of the rigging and the integration of visual projections onto the historic clock tower. The performance, a finalist for the 2024 MAX Awards, explored themes of historical memory, women's role, freedom and resistance, and featured texts by Toti Martínez de Lezea and narration by actress Itziar Ituño. Audiences praised the immersive experience, noting the unique use of the tower’s architecture to shape the choreography and visual narrative.
