Harry Brook commits to leadership role as England captain
England white-ball captain Harry Brook has expressed his commitment to becoming a reliable leader for both his team and fans. Speaking ahead of an upcoming tri-series in Pakistan involving Sri Lanka, Brook reflected on his personal and professional growth since being appointed permanent ODI and T20I captain in April 2025, succeeding Jos Buttler.
Brook addressed past challenges regarding his off-field conduct, specifically referencing a nightclub incident in Wellington in October 2025 that occurred shortly before an ODI against New Zealand. He noted that leadership responsibilities extend beyond the field and that he has learned significant lessons from the situation.
Since taking over the captaincy, Brook has shown statistical improvement, maintaining an ODI batting average of 51.3. He stated that he enjoys the added pressure of the role and aims to be the player who delivers in match-winning situations.
