Harry Kane eyes Ballon d'Or 2026, says World Cup win would boost his chances
England captain Harry Kane, fresh from a 61‑goal season with Bayern Munich, said he will be among the favourites for the 2026 Ballon d’Or if England lifts the World Cup this summer. In interviews with L’Équipe and other media, Kane asserted, “If we win the World Cup, I will definitely be in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or.”
Kane highlighted his prolific club form – 36 league goals in the Bundesliga and a hat‑trick in the DFB‑Pokal final – and stressed that individual awards follow major tournament success. He also praised manager Thomas Tuchel’s influence, noting that the England squad is training in Florida ahead of the tournament.
The captain’s comments come as England, under Tuchel, seeks its first major trophy since 1966, building on recent deep runs in Euro 2020, Euro 2024, and World Cup semi‑finals and quarter‑finals.
