Harry Kane and Thomas Tuchel address workload and contract news

England manager Thomas Tuchel has stated he will not entertain requests from Premier League managers to manage the workload of players during the international break. Describing such negotiations as ‘madness’, Tuchel emphasized that the interests of the national team must come first. He noted that he does not take calls from club coaches regarding player minutes, as he believes it is impossible to manage individual workloads while maintaining team cohesion.

During the current UEFA Nations League window, England faces a demanding schedule of four matches in 11 days. Captain Harry Kane has expressed a strong desire to start in all four fixtures. While Tuchel prefers to maintain a consistent starting lineup of six or seven core players to build trust and responsibility, he acknowledged that the intense schedule may eventually necessitate rotation due to fitness concerns.

Separately, Harry Kane is reportedly nearing a contract extension with Bayern Munich. Negotiations are focused on the length of the deal and specific clauses, including a release clause for a potential return to the Premier League and ‘matching rights’ for his former club, Tottenham Hotspur. Despite these discussions, Kane remains focused on his immediate international duties.
