Harry Leijdekkers: Prosecutors reject plea deal in 15 million euro laundering case

The Dutch Public Prosecution Service has rejected a proposed plea deal with Harry Leijdekkers, the brother of notorious criminal Jos 'Bolle Jos' Leijdekkers. The decision came just before a preparatory hearing at the Rotterdam District Court.

Leijdekkers is accused of laundering over 15 million euros in criminal proceeds belonging to his brother's organization. Authorities allege the funds were used to purchase approximately 277 kilograms of gold bars to secure the money away from government oversight. This included a 197-kilogram purchase valued at over 10 million euros and an 80-kilogram purchase worth 4 million euros.

Defense attorney Guy Weski expressed disappointment, noting that the case was suitable for a settlement due to the age of the facts and the time Leijdekkers spent in detention in Turkey. Leijdekkers was arrested in Istanbul in May 2024 and subsequently extradited to the Netherlands via private jet. The prosecution has declined to comment on the specific reasons for blocking the deal, stating the matter will likely be addressed during the court proceedings.
