Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Ends Run in Hamburg
The stage production “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will conclude its Hamburg run on Sunday evening. The performance at the Theater am Großmarkt, marketed as the “Dernière,” has sold out for its final night, hosting 1,670 guests. Since its debut in December 2021, the show has staged more than 1,400 performances, attracting roughly 1.8 million attendees, according to ATG Entertainment.
The production, based on the story by Jack Thorne, J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany, has featured a cast of 39 performers per show and a total of 105 cast members since opening. Theater director Marcel Neitzel highlighted that it was the world’s first non‑English‑language staging of the play. No plans have been announced to move the German production to another venue.
Following the closure, the venue will prepare for a new variety show, “Moulin Roue!,” slated to premiere in the autumn.
