Harry Potter franchise announces HBO series and film re-release

The Harry Potter franchise is seeing a major resurgence through both television and cinema. HBO Max has confirmed that a new series adapting the original novels will premiere on December 25, 2026. The first season will consist of eight weekly episodes, concluding on February 14, 2027. The cast features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, with John Lithgow playing Albus Dumbledore.

Production for a second season, which will adapt ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’, is expected to begin this autumn. Nicholas Hoult has been announced to join the cast for the second season as Gilderoy Lockhart.

Additionally, the original film, ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’, will return to Spanish cinemas on August 28, 2026, to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The re-release will be available in various locations, including Cine Yelmo Campanar in Valencia and Cines MN4 in Alfafar.
