Harry Potter HBO Max Series Faces Brutal Filming Schedule for Child Actors

Cinematographer Adriano Goldman explained that the upcoming Harry Potter television series on HBO and HBO Max had to be shot extremely quickly because child‑actor labour laws limited on‑set time to about 90 minutes per day. To meet the schedule, scenes were pre‑shot while the young cast attended a temporary school built near the set, which can accommodate up to 600 students.

The three lead actors – Dominic McLaughlin (Harry), Arabella Stanton (Hermione) and Alastair Stout (Ron) – each earn $660,000 for the first season. The series, which follows the characters from their first year at Hogwarts, is slated for release on December 25 2026 in the United States.
