Harry Potter series set for HBO Max debut in December 2026

The new Harry Potter television series is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on December 25, 2026. The first eight-part season will adapt the first book, ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’, with the intention of providing a more detailed adaptation of the novels than previous film versions.

The series features a completely new cast for the lead roles, with Dominic McLaughlin playing Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Other notable casting includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Hagrid.

In anticipation of the release, the garden center Intratuin in Lisse, Netherlands, has announced it will incorporate a Harry Potter-themed world into its Christmas program, featuring themed decorations such as the Weasley family car.
