Harry Shum Jr. faces criticism on Dancing With The Stars
During the second week of Dancing With The Stars Season 35, Harry Shum Jr. and partner Jenna Johnson performed a Viennese Waltz to “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. The routine included a dramatic moment where Shum screamed directly into the camera, an act Jenna Johnson later explained was intended to represent the emotional release of anxiety and pressure.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba criticized the performance, noting that while Shum is an “amazing performer,” the routine felt “out of balance” due to moments of timidity following high-energy segments. Inaba’s critique drew boos from the live studio audience, to which she responded by telling the crowd, “You can boo as long as you vote!”
The duo earned a score of 18 out of 30, allowing them to advance to the next week. Other top scorers for the night included Amber Glenn & Pasha Pashkov, Ezra Frech & Daniella Karagach, and Jenna Dewan & Val Chmerkovskiy, who all received 21 out of 30.
