Harry Souttar linked with £10 million transfer out of Leicester City

Australian centre‑back Harry Souttar has told Leicester City he wants to explore a move away from the club, which was relegated to League One after the 2025‑26 season. Leicester have placed a £10 million price tag on the 27‑year‑old defender, the highest fee ever paid for an Australian player.

Souttar, who captained the Socceroos at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and attracted interest after the tournament, is being linked with several English clubs, most prominently Sheffield United, who previously took him on loan, as well as West Ham United and Wrexham, and also Serie A side Cagliari. Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed ongoing discussions with Leicester and said an opening bid had already been rejected.

The defender’s 2025‑26 season was limited by a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in December 2024, but he returned in time for the World Cup. Leicester’s demand reflects the club’s need for funds after relegation, while interested clubs hope to bolster their squads with a proven international defender.
