Morat to donate concert proceeds for Colombian school reconstruction
Colombian band Morat has announced that they will donate a portion of the proceeds from their upcoming concerts in Bogotá to support the reconstruction of schools damaged by a recent earthquake. The band will hold six sold-out shows at the Movistar Arena between August 14 and August 23 as part of their ‘Ya Es Mañana World Tour’.
In addition to donating concert revenue, the group is establishing four donation points at and around the Movistar Arena, where fans can contribute funds that will be channeled through Unicef. The reconstruction efforts will specifically target schools in the Chocó, Eje Cafetero, and Valle del Cauca regions, which were among the hardest hit by the seismic event.
The earthquake, which measured 7.4 magnitude according to the Servicio Geológico Colombiano, occurred on Monday with its epicenter near San José del Palmar in the Chocó department. While the national government reported at least 181 deaths, regional figures suggest the death toll may exceed 240.
