Harry Styles honors Oscar Bergal during Madison Square Garden concert

During a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden on October 10, 2026, British singer Harry Styles paused his performance to address the audience regarding Oscar Bergal, a 28-year-old Dominican national who was shot by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the Bronx.

Styles urged the crowd to reflect on the importance of empathy and community care. He stated, “It is up to us to make these cities that we live in places we want to see... and remember, your friends, the people you love, the people who don’t look like you, and aren’t born where you are from — they deserve respect and love and dignity and justice.”

The incident involving Bergal occurred during an ICE operation two days prior to the concert. The singer's remarks emphasized the value of diversity and the need for respect toward individuals regardless of their origin.
