Harshana Rajakaruna denies links to firearms suspect

Opposition MP Harshana Rajakaruna has denied media reports linking him to an individual arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) in possession of firearms. The Gampaha District MP issued a statement clarifying that he has no connection to the suspect, noting that he is an only son and does not have any brothers.

Rajakaruna stated that he has never possessed the firearms provided to Members of Parliament during his 11 years in office. He accused certain media outlets, including a government-affiliated newspaper's social media account, of deliberately attempting to damage his reputation for political reasons.

The MP has instructed his lawyers to consider legal action against the responsible media institutions and accused the National People’s Power (NPP) government of using such reports to divert public attention from social and political criticism.
