Harstad Pensioners' Association demands free emergency alarms

The Harstad Pensioners' Association is calling for emergency alarms to be provided free of charge to all individuals in need. The organization, which represents 400 members, argues that these welfare technology tools are essential for allowing elderly citizens to live safely and independently in their own homes.

According to the association, emergency alarms are critical for those living alone or caring for sick spouses, as they provide a more effective way to call for help during acute illnesses or falls compared to a standard telephone. The group suggests that while municipalities face economic pressures, providing free emergency alarms could serve as a long-term win-win investment for local government budgets.
