A former patient has filed a lawsuit against Hartford Hospital, alleging that an employee accessed her private medical records and shared details of her care on social media. The patient, a resident of West Hartford, reported that she was harassed online following the unauthorized disclosure.

According to court documents, the incident occurred after the patient sought emergency care in May 2025. Hartford HealthCare confirmed in a letter that unauthorized access to the patient's medical information took place, which included personal details, appointment history, and future visit schedules. The breach constitutes a violation of the federal HIPAA privacy law.

Hartford HealthCare stated that patient privacy is a top priority but declined to comment further on specific details due to pending litigation and privacy laws.
