Haruka Kitaguchi wins javelin gold with Japanese record in Budapest
Haruka Kitaguchi, the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist, won the women's javelin throw at the inaugural Ultimate Athletics Championships in Budapest. Kitaguchi set a new Japanese national record with a throw of 68.m92, improving her previous record by 1.54 meters and tying for 10th place on the all-time world list.
China's Yen Eryi secured second place with a throw of 68.05 meters. The Ultimate Athletics Championships is a new elite competition featuring top-tier athletes, including Olympic and World Championship medalists, with a total prize pool of $10 million.
