Haruma Watanabe and Shota Kunii to turn professional shogi players

Haruma Watanabe and Shota Kunii are set to become professional shogi players on October 1, following their success in the 79th Shogi Association Apprentice League Three-Dan League.

Watanabe, 22, expressed surprise at his promotion, while Kunii, 17, will become the youngest active professional player. Kunii stated his ambition to win 90 percent of his matches in his debut year.
