Haruna Kawaguchi stars in film based on true story of Kazumi Endo

The film ‘Mama ga Mou Kono Sekai ni Inakutemo: Watashi no Inochi no Nikki’ is based on the true story of Kazumi Endo, who was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer at age 21 and passed away in 2021 after choosing to give birth to her daughter.

Lead actress Haruna Kawaguchi, who portrays Endo, discussed her approach to the role, noting that she studied detailed medical records regarding the progression of the illness to ensure authenticity. Kawaguchi suggested filming the scenes in chronological order to better reflect the physical and emotional toll of the treatment and the character's journey toward her final decisions.

Directed by Yuki Yamato, the film explores themes of love, life, and the difficult choices faced by families dealing with terminal illness. The production aims to deliver a positive message through the depiction of the family's bond, despite the tragic circumstances.
