Harvard University maintains top global academic ranking

Harvard University maintains its position as a leading global academic institution, recently securing the top spot in the Shanghai Ranking. The university has a long history of influence, having educated numerous U.S. presidents and producing more Nobel Prize winners than any other institution.

In contrast to the long-standing higher education traditions in the United States and various Spanish-speaking American nations—some of which established universities in the 16th century—Brazil's first university was not founded until 1920. This historical gap highlights differences in the timing and prioritization of public educational systems across the Americas.
