Harvest festivals celebrated in Chmielnik and Szepietowo

Traditional harvest festivals, known as Dożynki, were celebrated in several Polish regions, honoring the labor of farmers and the security of the food supply.

In the Kielce County and Chmielnik municipality, the festivities began with a Holy Mass led by Father Marek Tazbir, who emphasized the importance of farmers as the foundation of national food security. Following a procession led by the ‘Leśnianie’ Song and Dance Ensemble, harvest elders Agnieszka Pałyga and Adrian Tarłowski presented ceremonial bread to Kielce Starost Tomasz Pleban and Chmielnik Mayor Paweł Wójcik.

In the Szepietowo municipality, celebrations took place in Wojnach-Krupy, combining folk culture, music, and community gatherings. The event included a procession led by the ‘Szepietowo na ludowo’ ensemble. During the ceremony, harvest elders Barbara and Sylwester Porowscy presented bread to Szepietowo Mayor Robert Wyszyński. The event was attended by various officials, including Senator Anna Bogucka and Podlaskie Vice-Voivode Michał Gąsowski.
