Harvest season increases road safety concerns in Idaho

As the harvest season begins in Idaho, AAA Idaho is warning motorists to exercise caution due to the increased presence of large, slow-moving agricultural vehicles on rural and county roads.

Matthew Conde, public affairs director for AAA Idaho, noted that combine operators and truck drivers are working long hours to bring in crops, requiring a safety mindset from all road users. Drivers are advised to anticipate slow-moving equipment, watch for potential debris or spillage from shifting loads, and remain alert for agricultural workers crossing fields or traveling along roadsides on foot or via ATVs.

In addition to agricultural activity, officials highlighted the ongoing challenge of aggressive driving behaviors, such as tailgating and running red lights, which contribute to road safety risks during this period.
