Freudenstadt farm fire destroys buildings, €2.5 million damage
On Saturday, 4 July 2026, a large fire broke out at a farm in the Untermusbach district of Freudenstadt, Germany, around 17:40. Police suspect that sparks from Flex‑tool work in a workshop ignited the blaze. The 56‑year‑old owner tried to extinguish the flames and sustained minor injuries.
The fire quickly spread from a stable and a warehouse to the residential house. All occupants and the ponies kept in the stable were evacuated safely. Fire brigades from Freudenstadt, Horb and Baiersbronn, supported by the German Red Cross, responded with a strong deployment. To reach remaining hot spots in the warehouse, a excavator was used to break through walls. The destroyed outbuildings housed agricultural machinery, and the house is now uninhabitable. Investigators have estimated the material damage at roughly €2.5 million. The police continue to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
