Harvey Nichols Dundrum enters liquidation following insolvency

The Harvey Nichols luxury retail store in Dundrum, Dublin, has entered formal liquidation following an insolvency declaration in the Irish High Court. The company, which employs 33 staff, was unable to pay its debts and has ceased operations after its UK-based parent group withdrew financial support.

Evidence presented to Ms Justice Siobhan Stack revealed that the store’s net liabilities rose from €19.3 million in 2021 to €28.2 million by the end of the 2026 financial year. The financial decline is attributed to persistent losses and an inability to recover from market conditions following the Coronavirus pandemic. High overhead costs, including an annual rent of €1,059,410, further strained the entity.

Sole director Julia Goddard stated that no buyers emerged to assume the company’s debt, leading the board to pursue an orderly winding-up process. John Boland and Nicholas O’Dwyer of Grant Thornton have been appointed as joint liquidators to secure remaining assets and oversee the cessation of trading. The Department of Social Protection is among the creditors to be notified.
