Haryana Cabinet rolls out major tax incentives for EVs and property owners
On July 28, 2026, the Haryana Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini approved a 100 percent exemption from motor‑vehicle tax for newly registered pure electric two‑wheelers, three‑wheelers and four‑wheelers priced up to Rs 30 lakh, with a 50 percent exemption for vehicles above that price. The move builds on an existing 20 percent rebate for CNG vehicles and aims to accelerate adoption of electric vehicles in the state.
The same cabinet also gave in‑principle approval to a new, formula‑driven property‑tax methodology for all urban local bodies in Haryana. The system replaces discretionary assessments with calculations based on capital value, plot or carpet area, collector rate and a floor factor, and classifies cities into four categories with set tax‑rate ceilings. Implementation will be phased to avoid sudden spikes, and the policy includes a 100 percent exemption for religious properties such as temples, churches, gurudwaras and mosques.
