Haryana expands health scheme eligibility and digital payments

The Haryana government is implementing significant updates to its public healthcare services. Starting November 1, 2026, the CHIRAYU health scheme will expand its eligibility to include families with an annual income exceeding Rs 3 lakh. Under this extension, families earning between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 6 lakh will pay an annual contribution of Rs 4,000, while those earning above Rs 6 lakh will contribute Rs 5,000. The scheme provides cashless hospital treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh per family annually, covering secondary and tertiary healthcare through 2,694 treatment packages, including surgeries and pre-existing diseases. Eligibility is verified via the Parivar Pehchan Patra database.

Simultaneously, the state has introduced UPI-based digital payments at 610 public healthcare institutions, including district civil hospitals, community health centres, and primary health centres. This initiative aims to reduce queues by allowing patients to pay for outpatient department (OPD) and inpatient department (IPD) registration digitally. The state has also strengthened pre-registration capabilities, allowing patients to register from home through the e-Upchar Hospital Management Information System to minimize waiting times at hospitals.
