Haryana Government increases pay for sanitation workers

The Haryana government has announced a revised compensation structure for sanitation workers to improve their financial well-being. Under the new framework, the total monthly payout will increase to Rs 22,590. This consists of an enhanced monthly basic salary of Rs 21,000 and an existing allowance of Rs 1,590.

Previously, workers received a total of Rs 20,590, which included a base salary of Rs 19,000. The updated package also guarantees that covered employees will be eligible for regular annual salary increments in accordance with state job security regulations. This decision follows ongoing protests by sanitation workers that began on August 6.
