Haryana Minister urges youth to shun drugs and embrace sports

During a mahapanchayat in Midkola village, Palwal district, Haryana Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam called on youth to avoid drugs and instead focus on sports. The gathering, organized by the Dagar Pal, aimed to combat various social issues including drug abuse, dowry, and extravagant wedding expenditures.

Former MLA Praveen Dagar announced several strict new norms to curb excessive spending during weddings. These measures include banning dowry, restricting wedding procession sizes to 51 people, and limiting jewelry to one tola of gold and 100 grams of silver. The community also decided to ban alcohol at all celebrations and restrict the number of attendees at ceremonies such as engagements and the bhaat ceremony. Additionally, the assembly decided that only vegetarian food will be served and discouraged the use of certain ingredients like khoya and paneer to reduce costs.
