Haryana student awareness campaign reaches 310,000 children
The Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HALSA) has completed a statewide awareness campaign aimed at sensitizing students about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Between May 13 and August 15, the initiative organized 2,296 awareness programs across 1,731 schools and educational institutions. The campaign reached a total of 310,841 students. The program was implemented by District Legal Services Authorities in collaboration with district education officers, school principals, and teachers.
Rather than relying solely on traditional lectures, the sessions utilized age-appropriate discussions to cover topics such as personal safety, responsible use of technology, cyber safety, and the prevention of exploitation and abuse. The campaign also focused on teaching children how to report offenses and seek assistance, while highlighting the long-term impact of such offenses on a child's education, career, and social well-being.
