Hasan İ. performs 242nd suicide attempt in Şemdinli

Hasan İ., a man known in the public as “İntiharkolik” due to his repeated suicide attempts, climbed to the roof of a seven-story building in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari. This incident marks his 242nd attempt, following a previous record of 241 attempts across various provinces in Turkey.

Upon being spotted, local police, fire, and medical teams responded to the scene. Firefighters deployed an air cushion in front of the building to mitigate the risk of a fall. Hasan İ. cited financial difficulties and unemployment as his motivations and requested to speak with local officials.

Following prolonged negotiations by emergency responders, he was successfully persuaded to descend from the roof. He was subsequently transported to Şemdinli State Hospital for medical evaluation, where officials reported that his health condition is stable.
