Hasan Kalyoncu University team wins third at TEKNOFEST underwater competition

The MERGENİYE Team from Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKÜ) secured third place in the University Category of the Unmanned Underwater Systems Competition at TEKNOFEST 2026 Mavi Vatan, held in Gölcük.

Supported by HKÜ and the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, the team consists of students from various engineering disciplines, including software, computer, mechanical, electrical-electronic, and aerospace engineering. The team's autonomous underwater vehicle is designed to withstand pressures at depths of approximately 50 meters. It features an aluminum body, a modular electronic architecture, and utilizes sensors, camera systems, and control algorithms to navigate autonomously without human intervention.

HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan praised the achievement, noting that the students' ability to transform their knowledge into original, domestic technology demonstrates a strong culture of production and collaboration.
