Hasan Krasniqi dismissed as CEO of KRU Gjakova

The Board of Directors of the Regional Water Company (KRU) Gjakova has dismissed Executive Chief Hasan Krasniqi following a dispute regarding an administrative building near the Radoniqi Lake dam. The decision was reached during an extraordinary meeting with five votes in favor and no opposition.

The Board stated that the dismissal resulted from Krasniqi’s failure to implement an administrative order to suspend the activities of the “Liqeni i Dukagjinit” restaurant. While the Board acknowledged concerns regarding potential financial and contractual consequences for the operator, they maintained that the suspension of activity should have been handled separately from the final termination of the lease agreement.

Hasan Krasniqi has publicly contested the dismissal, claiming he was forced to choose between signing the unilateral termination of the contract or resigning. Krasniqi stated he refused to sign without a formal written decision from the Board or the Ministry of Economy, warning that such an action could lead to millions in legal and financial liabilities for the company. He alleges that when he requested written authorization, the Board Chairman immediately ordered him to vacate his position.
