Hasan Nawaz tops Asian Games run-scoring list despite Pakistan's loss to India

Hasan Nawaz finished as the highest run-scorer of the 2026 Asian Games cricket tournament despite Pakistan losing the gold medal match to India. Nawaz scored 123 runs across two games, highlighted by a resilient 96-run innings in the final.

In the championship match, Pakistan chased a target of 212 runs but fell 13 runs short, finishing with 192. Nawaz’s 96 runs—scored off 51 balls including five fours and seven sixes—accounted for nearly half of the team's total. He was dismissed on the final ball of the innings by Sanju Samson.

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez praised Nawaz’s counter-attacking performance but criticized the team's tactical execution and management decisions. Hafeez noted that the lack of support from the rest of the batting order prevented the team from converting individual brilliance into a victory, resulting in a silver medal for Pakistan.
