Hasan Piker criticizes protesters targeting Mayor Zohran Mamdani

Streamer Hasan Piker criticized protesters who disrupted an October 7 vigil in New York City, labeling them “opportunists” who “tarnished” the anti-Zionist movement. The incident involved protesters jeering New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and accusing him of genocide during the event.

Piker, speaking at a Jewish Currents Live event, noted that while protesters had valid concerns regarding police units and leadership, the lack of a prominent role by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) allowed the mobilization to be undermined by sectarian elements. The protest, which began at City Hall, eventually overran a peace vigil memorializing the victims of the October 7 Hamas-led attacks.
