Hasan Piker draws protests during university speaking tours

Political commentator Hasan Piker recently held speaking engagements at Cornell University and the University of Texas at Austin, drawing both significant crowds and protests.

At Cornell, Piker addressed a sold-out audience at Sage Chapel regarding the future of socialism in America and the current political landscape. The event faced criticism from groups such as Cornellians For Israel, who highlighted past controversial statements made by Piker regarding 9/11 and the events of October 7.

At the University of Texas, the event was hosted by University Democrats. The appearance prompted demonstrations from the Austin Young Republicans, who gathered near the student activity center to protest what they termed a “Red Dawn” rally. While protesters expressed opposition to Piker’s views, organizers and participants emphasized the importance of free speech on campus.
