Hasan Tahsin Pasha's historic uniform recovered after 25 years
The authentic military and diplomatic uniform of Hasan Tahsin Pasha, the last Ottoman governor of Thessaloniki, has been recovered after a 25-year search. The artifact, which is closely linked to the liberation of Thessaloniki in 1912, was acquired by military historian and collector Vasilis Nikoltsios.
Nikoltsios noted that the uniform includes the general's epaulettes and was likely manufactured in Germany. The acquisition completes a collection of the Pasha's relics, which already includes his sword and two medals previously obtained from his grandson. The uniform is expected to be placed on permanent display at the War Museum to provide a more complete historical account of the Pasha's role during the city's transition.
